The former Penygraig Infants School, located near Tonypandy in Rhondda Cynon Taf, has been redeveloped by Cynon Taf Community Housing Group and ASD into 12 new-build homes with associated external works. The existing school, which was no longer fit for purpose, was demolished and replaced with architecturally designed houses for a new generation.

The site was situated in a tight, condensed area with neighbouring obstacles to overcome.  Work commenced in October 2022 with the demolition of the existing buildings and the development of all properties was completed in September 2024.

The development has achieved an EPC rating of A, with a strong focus on sustainability targets and the reduction of carbon emissions throughout the building’s life cycle. This was supported through the installation of solar panels, electric hot water cylinders and the incorporation of sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS).
